Recap of SEMICON Europe 2024

Last week, the international semiconductor industry gathered at SEMICON Europe 2024, an event that took innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing to new heights. At High Tech NL, we look back with pride on a highly successful edition in which the NL Pavilion played a central role in connecting companies, networks, and innovations.

With the official opening of the event on Tuesday, we welcomed visitors to the NL Pavilion, where a wide range of Dutch participants and their cutting-edge technologies were showcased.

Event Highlights One of the main highlights was the Meet & Match lunch oon Wednesday, November 13, organized by the Netherlands Innovation Network Germany. This networking event brought together European companies and networks to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration. As part of the event, a delegation from the Dutch Innovation Network Germany visited various booths, including those of Neways Electronics International NV, Trymax Semiconductor, and Silicon Saxony, where they presented cutting-edge innovations and promoted cross-border synergies.

The Silicon Europe Alliance came together to shape the future of microelectronics and promote collaboration among European clusters. During the Drinks and Bites on Thursday, November 14, an interactive workshop was held at the joint booths of the Netherlands and Silicon Saxony, where topics such as strategy and competition within the EU semiconductor supply chain were discussed. This provided valuable insights into how Europe can strengthen its global position in the semiconductor industry.

Key highlights of the event:

• Discussions on European sovereignty in microelectronics, accelerating R&D, and international business development.
• A European workshop organized as part of the Silicon Eurocluster project, during which a booklet was unveiled featuring 12 groundbreaking funded projects that showcase innovation and collaboration.
• Presentation of the Eurocluster Resilience Plan, which provides partners with advanced technologies and sustainable practices while strengthening the European electronics value chain.

The Silicon Europe Alliance is a European network of 12 leading cluster partners focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and comprising organizations from industry, research, and the public sector. They bring together more than 2,000 (number to be updated) specialists in innovative electronics to tackle challenges and deliver sustainable solutions for the future.

About the Eurocluster Project
The Eurocluster Project is a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening the European economy by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through innovation, skills development, and cross-sector collaboration. By connecting clusters across Europe, the project aims to foster sustainable growth and competitiveness in various sectors. It involves 10 clusters from France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Austria, Sweden, Bulgaria, and Spain.

After four days of innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, SEMICON Europe 2024 can be called a resounding success. The keen interest in Dutch expertise in the field of advanced semiconductor technology and the collaborative spirit of our ecosystem were clearly evident during the event.
