In October 2023, the updated Holland High Tech (HHT) Roadmap for Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment was presented. On May 31, we would like to invite you to a follow-up meeting to provide you with an update on developments and national initiatives related to the roadmap over the past few months.

Follow-up meeting

Among other things, there will be presentations on ChipNL, the national R&D&I plan for the Dutch semiconductor industry; an overview of the status and opportunities under the new PPS innovation scheme by Holland High Tech; and coverage of the ChipsAct competence center, including a content workshop.

9:30 a.m. – Welcome by Rogier Verberk of TNO

9:40 a.m. – Unsupervised anomaly detection by Rob Snel of TNO

Image-based metrology is generating ever-increasing volumes of data, but the software needed to detect anomalies requires a great deal of fine-tuning and is therefore often too expensive to implement. We are developing unsupervised, data-driven methods for in-line use to detect anomalies that are easy to implement—even for small batches.

10:15 – An upupdate on TKI HTSM programming

TKI HTSM supports research in public-private projects. With a strategic program for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, upcoming calls for proposals, and specific support for SMEs, there are several opportunities for companies to participate. Ronald van Es of TKI HTSM and Wim van der Zande of ARCNL will provide an update on the organization, its activities, and the calls for proposals issued by TKI HTSM, as well as the strategic program.

11:00 a.m. – The National Plan for the Dutch Semiconductor Industry

This session focuses on the development of “ChipNL – Uniting the Dutch Chip Industry for a Sustainable Future,” a plan created by and for the Dutch semiconductor industry. It will include an introduction to and status update on ChipNL by Naomi Verstraeten, project coordinator, as well as a presentation on the Semiconductor Equipment pillar by Frans List, work package leader for Equipment.

11:30 a.m. – Chips Act Competence Centers and content workshop by Marieke Stokkelaar of ChipTech Twente

Within the EU Chips Act initiatives, Competence Centers play a key role in facilitating access to pilot lines and the design platform. For the Dutch center, in addition to chip design, semiconductor manufacturing equipment has been selected as a specialization, with a focus on providing business development and supply chain coordination services. During this workshop, we would like to work with companies to determine what the supply chain management within the Competence Center should look like. Using this input, we will work toward developing a technical service that meets market needs.
